Peel and cut apples into chunks, toss into a bowl and top with a tablespoon of lemon.
After you scoop the batter into the slow cooker, then add the chopped apples.

Ingredients
- All - purpose flour - 2 cups
- Brown sugar - 1 cup
- Baking powder - 2 tsp
- Sea salt - 1 tsp
- Butter or margarine - ½ cup, plus 2 tbsp, melted
- Milk - 1 cup
- Apples - 2 to 4, of choice
- Orange Juice - 1½ cups
- Cinnamon - 2 tsp
Instructions
Grease the bottom and sides of slow cooker or crock pot. In a bowl, add flour, ¾ cup brown sugar, baking powder and sea salt.
Add melted butter, fold together until coarse crumbs, stir in milk until combined. Scoop batter into the bottom of the slow cooker.
Peel and cut 4 apples of choice in cubes, drizzle with lemon then place on top of the batter in slow cooker, in another bowl add 2 tbsp melted butter or margarine, cinnamon, orange juice and ¼ cup brown sugar, mix together and add over the apples in slow cooker.
Place a clean dish towel over opening in slow cooker and put the lid on top of that. Turn slow cooker on a high heat and cook for 2 to 3 hours or low for a longer cooking time.
When cooked keep in slow cooker on warm and serve in fancy single bowls and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream or whipped cream and homemade caramel sauce. See recipe below!!
Caramel Sauce ingredient’s:
2 tbsp butter 1 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup evaporate milk or milk of choice.
1 tsp vanilla or vanilla beans
Caramel Sauce:
1 In a saucepan, melt butter; add sugar & vanilla whisking to blend well.
2 Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. (Do not allow to simmer, or it may curdle.)
3 Whisk in milk , remove from heat.
4 Whisk before serving, the sauce should be soft, creamy, and smooth.
Bonita’s Tips:
The last step using ¼ cup of brown sugar you can replace with honey.
Placing a clean dish towel over the opening in the slow cooker is to keep the condensation from soaking into the cake.
Keep slow cooker on a safe surface when using unit, if cooking it on high temperature don’t leave unattended.
You can microwave make the caramel sauce, following the same method when cooking.
