Apple sauce is your main ingredient and a mix of cinnamon and ground cloves to make these cookies the best.....
Only a few simple ingredients in the recipe and it is so tasty, it's a soft and spicy cookie.
This is our favourite part making two different types, one with raisins and the other with chocolate chips, but thats not all keep going to more pic's and info about these cookies.

Ingredients
- Brown sugar - ¾ cup, packed
- Shortening - ½ cup
- Egg - 1 large
- Raisins - ½ cup, or chocolate chips
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Baking soda - ¼ tsp
- Baking powder - 1½ tsp
- Sea salt - 1 tsp
- Cinnamon - 1 tsp
- Ground cloves - ¼ tsp
- Apple sauce - 1 cup
Instructions
Method:
In a bowl cream together shortening and brown sugar, then in a small bowl crack one egg whisk with a fork and toss together with other ingredients.
Then sift all dry ingredients alternating with applesauce, fold in raisins or chocolate chips or half the dough and make both.
Preheat the oven to 400ºF and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or lightly greased.
Then add teaspoon or tablespoon dollops of dough on the cookie sheet and they make about 40 to 50 cookies depending on the size.
Melt chocolate chips in the microwave or double boiler for 1 minute and dip cookies on one side. Or dust cookies with confectioners sugar or icing with your favourite icing.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until baked, place on a cooling rack.
Bonita’s Tips:
Store in cookie tin after at room temperature, after a day or two and the spice flavour will go through cookies.
Allergens
After baking these tasty apple sauce cookies for 10 minutes each tray, they make about 40 to 50 cookies depending on the size. You have another big decision to make, do you want to dip them in white or dark chocolate or dust them with confectionary sugar or icing them with your favourite icing recipe.
Maybe do all three!
