Hi and welcome to our website!
If you are looking for a tasty and fun recipe to make with your kids or grandkids, this is it!
Only a few simple and tasty ingredients go into this recipe, but it makes a nice gift for a loved one or friend.
So if you are still interested make yourself a cup of tea and sit back and watch our short video tutorial....
Use a fresh box of rice Krispies and marshmallows for better results, having all your ingredient's measured and ready for making this recipe is also very important.
Using large or mini marshmallows makes no difference, just use what you have available. Having a fresh bag of marshmallows would work better, but if you don't have it use what you have.
Why use unsalted butter?
That would be your own preference, it's not necessary to have salt in this recipe but it would be your choice.
Melt marshmallows on a medium to low heat, DON'T cook them!
After marshmallows are melted remove from heat and turn stove top off!
Then pour the rice Krispies in a little at a time, mix quick and have your 9 x 9 inch pan with a sheet of parchment paper in it.
Use a silicone spatula with butter or margarine on it to spread easier, after all fold together spread in your 9 x 9 inch pan with a sheet of parchment paper. This will be easier to remove from pan and cut into the size you like.
Spreading the rice Krispie mixture quick while hot and then topping with the chocolate chips.
If the chocolate chips don't melt that way, try this way!
Turn your oven on 200ºF and when at that temperature turn it OFF and place the pan in the oven for 30 Seconds! Then remove it and spread the chocolate and while warm slide the tip of the knife down the chocolate to make a line were to cut each treat....

Ingredients
- Chocolate Chips - 1 cup or more
- Rice krispies - 5 cups
- Marshmallows - 4 cups, mini or large
- Unsalted butter - ¼ cup
Instructions
You will need a 9 x 9 inch pan, 1 sheet of parchment paper, silicon spatula
Measure all ingredients and have it ready to use.
Line a piece of parchment paper in a 9 x 9 inch pan.
In a medium saucepan on a medium to low heat, add butter, let melt “not cook”. Then add marshmallows, using silicon spatula stirring occasionally so they don’t burn.
When marshmallows are melted remove from heat, add rice krispies and with a buttered silicon spatula mix together and then remove the mixture into your 9 x 9 inch pan. Spreading the mixture evenly over the parchment paper.
Then pour the cup of chocolate chips over top of marshmallow mixture, spread evenly while mixture in warm. If it’s starting to cool down, place your pan on the warm stove top “with the stove off” to keep it warm until you spread the chocolate.
With a knife run lines over the top 8 times, where you like to cut your rice krispy treats.
Bonita’s Tips:
Measuring all your ingredients helps with fast making of these treats.
Putting the chocolate chip over the warm rice krispies treats will melt chocolate chips, or melt them before and pour over top of mixture.
If they don’t melt that way, turn the oven on 200ºF and then turn it off and put the pan in the oven for 30 seconds. Then spread the chocolate out.
Running your knife over the top of melted chocolate helps create the lines and easier to cut.

We hope you are still very interested in making our recipe for Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats if so continue on to more great info about them.
When Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats is at room temperature remove from pan by taking the both ends of the parchment paper. Then place on the counter to cut in the sizes you like them to be, mine is about 2 inches long so it is like a bar on a stick.
Put a toothpick on one side and wrap in some clear wrap and a ribbon to make a treat. This would be nice for a gift for any occasion, like Valentines Day, birthday or anniversary.
