ENGLISH MUFFINS

If you are looking to make your own ENGLISH MUFFINS we have a lovely easy recipe for you to follow and make. These tasty little english muffins are so easy to make, they are lovely with jam, cheese or eggs and bacon. Make yourself a cup of tea and sit back and watch our short video tutorial.
Let the yeast proof for five minutes in warm milk and water, add sugar and mix together.
I hope you are still interested in our recipe here today, they only take a few minutes to make and then let the dough rise for 30 minutes. The frying time is 5 to 7 minutes for each side and they make 15 each english muffins.
Roll or flatten dough to about 1-1/4 inch thick and cut out all the english muffins, sprinkle the dough with cornmeal. Start the frying pan on a medium to low heat, with cornmeal in the pan to help brown and fry the muffins.

Ingredients
- Warm Water - 1 cup
- Scaled milk - 1/2 cup, microwave or stove top
- Traditional or fast rising yeast - 2 tsp,
- Butter or margarine - 3 tbsp, melted
- Sea salt - 1/2 tsp
- All-Purpose Flour - 4 cups
- Cornmeal - 1/4 cup
Instructions
Add scaled warm milk, warm water together and then add yeast, let proof for five minutes.
Add 3 1/2 cups of flour and sea salt to large bowl and toss together, make a small hole in the middle for yeast.
When yeast has proofed add to flour, then add warm melted butter, start working together.
If dough is still a little sticky add more flour a fold together inwards, keep working dough until formed into a ball. “Flip over and mark the sign of a cross” optional!
Cover with tea towel let rise too double about 30 mins in warm place.
Then take out and place on counter “don’t deflate” and roll out 1 1/4 inch, cut with round biscuit cutter or larger.
Place on cornmeal sprinkled cookie sheet . Let rise for 15 minutes.
Then use large fry pan “cast iron” on med low heat sprinkled with corn meal.
Transfer four or five of the cut out muffins and cook 5 to 7 mins on each side, until
you have cooked them all.
Makes 15 muffins.
