Homemade Cheese Burgers
I guess this Homemade Cheese Burger speaks for itself, I'm thinking you don't need me to convince you to make it. It's always a good time for comfort food and to make it yourself and look like this delicious Cheese Burger. Made from scratch and super easy to do, freshly baked buns with a delicious avocado spread over your bun.
These delicious burgers were grilled inside because my grill outside is full of snow, thats ok, we can still enjoy our summer favourites at winter time.
Have I convinced you yet to go out and buy some freshly grated lean ground beef, and make these fresh homemade buns.

I'm going to share with you a nice dessert to make to have with your Homemade Cheese Burgers.
Traditional Newfoundland Pastry Tarts
These delicious little Homemade pastry tarts are so good you can't only eat one, quick and easy to make and ready to enjoy. I'm also going to share a link to my cookbook Traditional Newfoundland Cooking and Recipes.
Ingredients
- BURGERS:
- Lean ground beef - 4-5 Cups
- Egg - 1 Large
- Garlic Cloves - 2 Each
- Black Pepper - 1/2 Tsp
- Sea Salt - Pinch
- Worcestershire Sauce - 1 Tsp
- Onion - 1 Smal Grated
- DOUGH FOR BUNS:
- Flour - 2 Cups
- Yeast - 2 Tsp, fast rising or traditional
- Sea Salt - 1/2 Tsp
- Sugar - 1 Tsp
- Butter - 1 Tbsp
- Warm Water - 1 Cup
- Egg - 1 Large
- AVOCADO SPREAD:
- Avocado - 1 each
- Garlic Cloves - 1 each
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 4 Tbsp more if needed
- Sea Salt - Pinches
- Black pepper - Pinches
- Rice Vinegar - 1-2 Tbsp more if you like a vinegaret
- Lime - 1 fruit all juice
Instructions
Burger Method:
- In a bowl add all of your ingredients, folding them together with your hands until all combine but not over mixed.
- After done cut with your hand four or six burgers, keeping all of them the same size. Depending on how big you like to have your patties.
- Then shape into round flat patties, place on a plate after all done cover and put in the fridge until 1/2 hour before you are ready to grill them, remove from fridge to rest at room temperature before you grill.
- When ready to grill indoors or out, hot the gill first before placing the patties on the grill, light oil grill.
- Place all patties on the grill depending on the size of your grill don’t over croud grill, let patties grill for 5 to 7 minutes on each side depending on the size.
- If the patties got nice grilled marks on each side and is clear juice starting to release they are done, depending if you like them rear, medium, well done.
- Before you remove them from grill add one piece of cheese of choice over the top of each patty, cover with a lid or foil wrap, turn off heat.
Dough Method:
- In a large bowl add flour and sea salt mix together.
- Then in a small bowl add warm water, yeast and sugar, let rise for 5 minutes.
- Mix your egg in a small bowl and in another bowl warm butter, then pour both in with the dry ingredients.
- After yeast have risen pour in with the other ingredients, then start mixing everything together with a spoon or mixer with hook.
- When dough becomes hard to mix use your hand and knead it by pulling the dough towards and pushing downwards, using more warm water or flour to bring it all together.
- After cut into 4 or 6 pieces, then roll them by pulling the dough downwards with bought hands making a ball.
- Place them on a pan lined with parchments paper, continue doing this until all done.
- Cut a cross in the top of each bun, drizzle with olive oil, and top with sesame seeds (optional). Then cover with a towel let rise for 10 minutes in a warm place.
- Pre-heat oven to 350ºF then bake for 25 to 30 minutes, depending on your oven.
- Then remove from oven take out of pan and place on a cooling rack.
When cooled cut in half, add hamburger patty and top with choice of toppings.
Baking Tips:
- Double recipe for more buns, but don’t change the yeast amount.
- After buns are cooled put in freezer bag if you wish to keep them fresh for longer.
- After dough is made you can use any toppings on buns, cheese, poppy seeds, etc.
Avocado Spread:
- In a food processor or by hand mix all ingredients together until you are satisfied with the results.
- Spread over buns and for salad.

Homemade Cheese Burgers is so delicious and made from scratch, freshly baked homemade buns and nicely seasoned ground beef and grill indoors to get that outdoor grilling effect.
