Ingredients
- Dry mustard - 1/3 cup
- Flour - 2 tsp
- Brown sugar - 1 cup
- Beef oxo or cube - 1 pack, equal to 1 tsp
- Vinegar - 1/3 cup, of choice
- Eggs - 3 large
Instructions
Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl, then crack eggs in another bowl and add to dry ingredients. Use a blender or hand whisk after adding the eggs and vinegar.
Cook in a double boiler until thick or can be cooked in the microwave if you stir every 30 seconds about 6 times, depending on your microwave.
Pour in a papered mason jar for storage.
Serve hot or cold … Lasts forever if kept in the refrigerator
Please Note: My friend Jennifer’s Mom’s recipe and note’s….
Most recent batch I made I used Rice Wine Vinegar and it gave it a different taste.
(She always cook’s her mustard sauce in the microwave, so much simpler)
Allergens
This recipe was given to me by my friend Jennifer and she said this recipe her Mom always called it Mother’s Mustard so I am assuming it came from her mother (who was born in England in the 1800s …. she (Dee Dee) and her husband (Go Go) emigrated to Canada in 1916 and her mother was born in a tent in a blizzard in Winnipeg on the first day of Spring …. a bit of trivia) so you know this got to be a recipe you need to make.
This is a mustard when prepared store in the fridge until all eaten….Now how good is that!
Thank you once again for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed our friends family recipe here today, don’t forget to leave me a message letting us know and if you make this recipe and you used a different vinegar let us know what type and how it tasted. So from our kitchen to yours, thanks you 🙂 Bonita, RMHusseyProductions and Team…

Already, I am trying to decide which vinegar to use.
Thanks for highlighting my Mother’s Mustard. If you want a slightly thinner mustard, more like a mustard ‘sauce’ you can dissolve the beef oxo in a cup of warm water. I often pour it over a cut of meat and bake it. After years of trying this recipe, my favorite vinegar is still Malt Vinegar … but that was also my Mother’s favorite, so that is probably why!
Enjoy, Jennifer

Really Interested in passed down recipes. Definitely going to make this sauce! The chicken dish looks amazing. I may play a bit with my protein . Bet pork would work as well. Being a somewhat experienced home cook. That sauce? I can work that in many recipes. Thanks from Catherine Halifax.
