Shrimp Casserole
Welcome to my website if you are looking for a delicious shrimp meal this one is prefect, made with hash browns and shrimp and baked in a creamy homemade sauce. 🙂
You can make your own hash browns or store bought whatever is easier for you, this recipe is for a square pan or roaster. If you like a bigger amount just double my recipe and it will work out lovely. My recipes are quick and easy ones to help you make a delicious meal for your family on a week night or weekend.
This creamy sauce is started with a bed of onions frying until part cooked, then following the recipe to build the big flavours to make a delicious creamy sauce.

This is as good as it gets breakfast, dinner and supper from one casserole meal, I hope I have convinced you to make my delicious shrimp casserole. Ingredients
- Shrimp - 3-4 cups, cleaned and cooked
- Hash browns - 3-4 cups fresh or frozen
- Onion - 1 medium chopped
- Butter - 2 tbsp
- Olive oil - 1 tsp
- Sea salt - 1/2 tsp
- Black pepper - 1/2 or more
- Milk - 1 cup
- Water or Broth - 1/2 cup
- Flour or Corn Starch - 2 Tbsp
- Garlic cloves - 2 minced
- Shredded Cheese - 1 cup or more
- Ground Nutmeg - 1/2 Tsp
Instructions
- In a large bowl add hash browns and shrimp toss together.
- Then in a frying pan start cooking your medium chopped onion, butter, sea salt, black pepper and oil until it start to change colour or light brown.
- After add flour, nutmeg and garlic mix through onion, add milk and water continue mixing until thickened.
- Pour over shrimp and hash browns, then transfer all of your mixture in a casserole dish of choice.
- Then top with shredded cheese or choice, bake in a 350º oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- When baked serve with veggies of choice or salad and it is wonderful for all three meals.
- Leftovers will keep for a few days in your fridge just rewarm as needed.

My shrimp is uncooked should I precook them or just cook them in the oven?
Hi Mike, thank you for your message and for stopping by, its ok to cook then in the oven with the other ingredients. Just give them a little rinsing under the tap water and pat them dry. Then follow the recipe for the other steps. Enjoy Bonita
This is my second time making this dish. The second time I did add a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and 2 tbsp of white wine. I also used a bag of frozen O’Brien potatoes. Yummy either way. Thank you for sharing such a delicious and versatile recipe.
