Traditional Newfoundland Apple Crumble

Looking for a delicious dessert to use up your freshly picked apples or crab apples, having seasonal apples are the best. I believe that for any type of food, picking it from your garden or catching it from a pond or ocean is wait its all about. Ok back to my recipe for apple crumble it is a quick and easy dessert to make and you can prepare it the night before you are planning on serving it. π
I'm posting this recipe for our Thanksgiving weekend so you can have another lovely dessert idea for your family to enjoy. Some cook their thanksgiving feast on Sunday and some on Monday but whenever you make it this apple crumble will be lovely after to have.Β

Ingredients
- Apples - 3 cups chopped ( any type , cut, part peeled)
- Brown sugar - 1 cup
- Lemon Juice - 1 tsp for over apples
- Ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- Lemon Juice - 1 tbsp for water to soak chopped apples
- CRUMBLE MIXTURE:
- Flour - 1 1/2 cups sifted
- Brown sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 1 cup
- Oatmeal - 1 1/2 cup any cut
- Allspice - 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves
Instructions
Cut apples of choice in slices or chucks, remove stems and leave some peel on for colour.
Then lightly oil a glass casserole dish or pan of choice, put sliced apples at the bottom, pour lemon juice evenly over them.
Then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over top of apples.
In and bowl add all dry ingredients and butter then mix together by hand or food processor, to make crumbles.
Sprinkle all crumble mixture over top and put in a pre-heated oven of 350ΒΊ for 30-40 minutes or golden brown, depending on your oven.
Remove from heat and serve with thick cream or ice cream or a caramel sauce.

Freshly picked crab apples is what I used in my recipe but you can use any type of apple and you can peel it or leave the peel on, its totally up to you.
