Traditional Newfoundland Orange Jelly Salad
Hi and thank you for visiting my website!
I guess you are looking for a delicious homemade jello/jelly salad made with simple ingredients.
Well! Look no further, this recipe is so easy to make you will love it.
It is very hard to make a jello/jelly salad that is not sweet, this recipe got a sweet and tarty taste that will go well with other cold salads you are serving.
This is not a fancy meal, but it is a childhood memory for many people that grow up with this type of food and forgot about it. The recipe got lost in the back of our minds because we grow up and moved on. Our parents and grandparents may be passed away and the cookbook was never found, so what I hope to achieve is to dig out those recipes and try to recreate them into a new memory for you and a delicious meal idea.
Check out this delicious pineapple salad recipe to have with your jelly salad it will be lovely.

I grow up eating homemade salads and this one for jelly salad was our favourite, it didn’t matter what colour it was or what ingredients our mom put in there we loved it. Every Sunday night we would have Cold Plate supper, this is different potato salads and cold slew, tomato, lettuce and cold cuts sliced ham, turkey roll, or leftover chicken cold.
Ok if you haven’t made or ate jelly salad before now you need to follow my video and make your own, it is a few steps but not a lot of work. We would only make the jelly salad in a glass bowl not in a fancy mould to display on the table. There were so many mouths to feed and by the time all the cold plates were scooped out in the plates there was no jelly salad left to display. 🙂

Hi, can you tell me how many 1 oz servings you get from this recipe?
Hi Paula: Thank you so much for your question and for stopping by, I’m glad you are looking at our jelly salad it is so tasty and of course can be different colours if you wish. To answer your question? I can give you a ball point guess on your question because I was never good at conversions 🙂 But I guess there is 16 oz in 2 cups and we have 2 cups of water, 1-1/2 cups OJ, 1/2 cup of vinegar so that would be 4 cups = 32 oz but again this is just a guess. I hope this helps and enjoy to the fullest.
Stay safe and enjoy 🙂 Bonita
